350 Madison is excited to host Patty Loew as she shares reflections on successful actions to stop extraction of Wisconsin's Penokee Hills as it faced threats from the mining industry. Madison organizers are holding a “Hoodie Rally” on Saturday, April 7th from noon to 2pm on the State Street steps of the State Capitol Building. The Hoodie Rally will remember Bo Morrison and Trayvon Martin, demand justice for the victims of gun violence, and oppose laws that allow killing of our youth. This rally is also to call for an end to racism and stereotyping. Scheduled speakers will include: Kaleem Caire of the Madison Urban League; Bo Morrison’s family friend Tiffany Schroeder; and other community leaders. People will wear hoodies in memory of Trayvon and Bo. For more information call 338-4948.

Sustain Dane is sponsoring Food Camp this Saturday from 9 am - 5 pm. There is more information than one mortal could digest: Classes about beekeeping, gardening and making your own sauerkraut! Food Camp is a one-day, one-stop learning experience. It will be held at the Goodman Community Center 149 Waubesa Street. Admission is free, but pre-register at FoodCamp.org

Help end hunger in West Madison and Middleton by bringing a canned food item for the Stuff the Truck event at the new Metcalfe's West on Friday from 10am to 6pm and Saturday from 9am to 3pm. The need for food in summer increases while donations drop. This event will help the Middleton Outreach Ministry Food Pantry raise 25 tons of food from area food drives and from Canstruction Madison 2012. Go to canstructionmadison.org for more information.
