Tonight at 7 PM, WORT Radio’s science program, the Perpetual Notion Machine, will feature a discussion of the long and tortuous road from Darwin's description in 1859 of the Law of Evolution to the discovery in 1944 of DNA as the substance that holds genetic information and makes evolution possible. That’s on 89.9 FM WORT Radio at 7 PM tonight.

Mendota Elementary, located at Northport Dr. at School Rd, is seeking volunteer tutors for its Safe Haven Plus program. The after school program provides one-on-one and group tutoring, homework help for kids (grades K-5), childcare and extra academic support for students who are performing below proficiency level in reading and math. Shoppers looking for thrifty and thoughtful gifts this holiday season will have the opportunity to help raise funds for the Madison Public Library when several branches hold sales of gently used books, art, CD’s and DVD’s for kids, teens and adults.
