This evening, Anna Baltzer; writer, activist, author of the new book Witness in Palestine: Journal of a Jewish American Woman in the Occupied Territories; gives the keynote address of the 22nd annual conference of The Wisconsin Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies entitled “New Directions for Peace in the Middle East and Around the World”. She will Anna will be talking about her five months working with the

Tonight, Rainbow Bookstore Cooperative is sponsoring an evening of films, taped interviews, and speakers on the current situation in Oaxaca. Organized by Rainbow Volunteer Coordinator and Oaxaca native, Moy Villavicencios-Barras, the event will feature two videos: the full-length documentary film “Granito de Arena” and the short “Oaxaca Vive!”. This event also features several taped interviews done by Roberto Yanez, a radio journalist with WORT's "Nuestro Patio". This is at Rainbow Bookstore Cooperative, 426 West Gilman Street, at 7. Tomorrow, Turtle Island Distribution Enterprises and Dane County United Way hold a Medicine Wheel Health and Wellness Workshop entitled “Healthy Food for Kids”. Elders Hiawatha Cromer, Bob St. Germaine Holis, Betty Jack, and Mike Chosa will share their knowledge on living food and native diet with demonstrations and recipes. Tomorrow, Madison-Guatemala Network, WORT-FM, CALA, Centro Hispano, the Colombia Support Network, Communities United, LUChA and WCCN host Fiest Guatemala. This is an evening of live Brazilian rhythms, samba, pagode (pa-GO-day) and Latin sounds. The event also features fair trade Guatemalan textiles and crafts for sale, along with beer and refreshments.
